HISTORY-
Costumes For Kids started in 2011 when the student parliament at J. L. Forster Secondary School in Windsor, Ontario wanted to help families in need at Halloween time by providing free costumes to children in the neighbourhood. The parliament started collecting gently used costumes from staff, family, friends and students from other schools, then held a free Halloween costume open house at the high school. When Forster closed, the charity event continued to be run by student leaders at Tecumseh Vista Academy and the free Halloween costume give-away event moved to the Sandwich Teen Action Group (S.T.A.G.) site. Today, Costumes for Kids is run by the student parliament at Walkerville Collegiate Institute and the free Halloween party draws over 300 children each year at S.T.A.G.. Through the generosity of our community partners and sponsors, Costumes For Kids continues to grow on an annual basis-helping make a happy Halloween to children with need. THE COSTUMES FOR KIDS HALLOWEEN PARTY- At the free Halloween party, children from the ages of infant to age 13 are able to come and select a free Halloween costume of their choice for Halloween. The children also receive a treat bag, a book of their choice, and are treated to a lunch. , |
